Prerequisite Knowledge
The explanations in this guide assume that the reader knows how to use their
personal computer's operating system and is generally familiar with the
principles and operation of their computer network environment.
For details about your personal computer's operating system and basic
information about network principles and operation, please refer to the
instruction guides provided with your personal computer, operating system, and
network system.
Organization
This manual consists of ten chapters. A brief introduction of each chapter is
provided below.
Chapter 1 Configuring the Printer
This chapter explains how to connect the printer to the computer (when using it
as a local printer) and how to connect the printer to a network (when using it as a
network printer).
Chapter 2 Installing the Printer Driver
This chapter explains how to install the necessary software to the computer so
that the printer can be used.
Chapter 3 Basic Printing Operations
This chapter explains the names of the printer's parts, how to turn the power on
and off, procedures for printing, and other basic procedures for using the printer.
Chapter 4 Loading Paper
This chapter describes the types of paper that can be used with DocuPrint 181/
211, how to load the paper in the respective trays, and the procedure to switch to
an optional paper tray.
In addition, it describes the procedure to print on special media such as
transparencies and envelopes.
Chapter 5 Printer Control Panel
This chapter explains how to use the printer control panel and define the settings
for the individual functions by using the printer control panel.
