1 Log in to AIX as a user with root permissions.

2 Back up the HDLM settings.

If an upgrade installation or re-installation fails, AIX automatically
uninstalls HDLM, and the HDLM settings are deleted.
Perform this step so that a copy of the HDLM settings is available in this
case.
