Chapter 2

Connecting AC Power to Multiple-Server Configurations

When you connect the HP NetServer to an AC power source, the server
temporarily draws a large "inrush current." This occurs even when the system is
in standby mode. Inrush current is much greater than the server's normal
operating current. Generally, the AC power source can handle the inrush current.
If you install several HP NetServers on one circuit, however, precautions are
necessary. If there is a power failure and power is then restored, all the servers
immediately begin to draw inrush current at the same time. If the circuit breakers
on the incoming power line have insufficient capability, they may trip and thus
prevent the servers from powering up.
When preparing your site for installation, allow for the additional inrush current.
See Specifications in Appendix A for power requirements.

Viewing Information on the Control Panel Display

The HP NetServer LXr 8000's control panel display can show system
configuration information, a log of current and past error conditions, replaceable
parts information, and more.
The control panel LCD display can display a main menu of selections that lead to
several different information screens. You use the display's controls to make
selections from menus and scroll through the screens. Table 2- 5 briefly describes
the controls.
