Chapter 6

Removing the Processor Baseboard

To remove the processor baseboard, complete the following procedure.
1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions at the beginning of this chapter.
2. Remove the Processor/Memory Complex from the system as described in
"Removing the Processor/Memory Complex" in Chapter 5.
3. Remove the topside memory board from the Processor/Memory Complex
as described in "Removing and Installing Memory Boards" in Chapter 5.
4. Remove the topside microprocessors as described in "Removing a
Microprocessor" in Chapter 6.
5. Carefully turn the Processor/Memory Complex over so that you can work
on its underside.
6. Repeat steps three and four to remove components and hardware from this
side of the Processor Baseboard.
7. With all components and hardware removed from both sides of the
Processor/Memory Complex, carefully turn it over again so that it is
oriented with its face up.
8. Loosen the two captive screws securing the Processor Baseboard between
the two halves of the Processor/Memory Complex.
