Testing Packages and Viewing Results
Adding a Test Result Message
To add a test result message, perform the following steps.
Task:
To add a test result message to a package:
1.
Select the package in the package tree that you want to add a test result message to.
2.
Right-click on the package, point to Ad hoc Test Results and click Add on the context menu. The Custom
Test Results Editor dialog box opens.
3.
In the Category list, either enter a new name for a test category where you want to display this message, or
select an existing category from the list.
Note •
category has already been added, then it will be listed in the Category list. You can create a new category by
entering a category name in the Category box.
4.
In the Name list, either enter a new name for the test, or—if the same test has generated more than one
error—select an existing name from the list.
5.
From the Severity list, select Error, Warning, or Information.
6.
In the Description box, document the error that you discovered during ad-hoc testing. This information will be
displayed under Error Details in the right pane when this test result node is selected.
Editing a Test Result Message
To edit the Severity or Description of an existing test result message, perform the following steps.
Task:
To edit a test result message:
1.
Select the message node in the package tree that you want to edit.
2.
Right-click on the message node, point to Ad hoc Test Results and click Edit on the context menu. The
Custom Test Results Editor dialog box opens, with the Severity and Description fields enabled.
3.
Make edits to the Severity and Description fields and click Update.
