MAINTENANCE
Troubleshooting
Problem
A receive antenna cannot be select.
The MAIN/SUB indicator blinks blue.
The transceiver automatically
switches to transmit while receiving.
The transceiver cannot switch to
transmit.
No power output or the output power
is too low.
The transmit signal is unclear or
distorted in the SSB mode.
Under modulation occurs.
The received audio in the SSB mode
is unclear or distorted.
Cannot contact with another station,
even if receiving and transmitting
seem normal.
The frequency is not properly
changed by rotating
RIT/ TX
The operating frequency does not
change when rotating
MAIN DIAL
The display turns OFF.
A Programmed scan does not start.
Possible cause
"RX-ANT Connectors" is set to
"Connect External RX Device."
The Tracking function is ON.
The VOX function is ON.
The VOX gain is set too high.
The transceiver receives the SEND
signal from the software on the PC.
The operating frequency is outside a
ham band.
In the CW mode, the Break-in
function is turned OFF.
The transmit output power is set too
low.
The modulation input signal level is
set too low.
The microphone is bad, or the [MIC]
jack is shorted or defective.
The antenna SWR is more than 3:1.
The antenna is not properly tuned.
The transceiver's microphone gain is
too high.
In the AM or FM mode, the transceiver's
microphone gain is too low.
In the AM mode, the transceiver's
Drive Gain level is too high.
The incorrect sideband is selected.
The PBT function is activated.
The Split function is ON, and the
transmit and receive frequencies
differ. ( is displayed.)
The RIT or ∂TX function is ON, and
the transmit and receive frequencies
differ. ("RIT" or "∂TX" is displayed.)
The RIT or ∂TX function is OFF.

The Dial Lock function is ON.

The Screen Saver function is ON.

The VFO mode is not selected.
The same frequencies have been set
in the scan edge memory channels
P1 and P2.
Solution
Set to "Connect Receive Antenna"
(default).
Turn OFF the function.
Push VOX/BK-IN
VOX function.
Adjust the VOX gain.
Confirm the "USB SEND" setting.
Set the frequency to a ham band.
Turn ON the function before starting
keying.
Adjust the RF POWER in the Multi-
function menu.
Adjust the MIC GAIN level in the
Multi-function menu.
Test the microphone and check the
[MIC] jack.
Adjust the antenna for an SWR of
less than 3:1.
Hold down
tune the antenna.
Adjust the MIC GAIN level so that the
meter reading swings between 30
and 50% of the ALC scale.
Adjust the MIC GAIN level in the
Multi-function menu.
Adjust the Drive Gain level.
Toggle between USB and LSB.
Hold down
to clear the PBT settings.
Push
SPLIT
function.
Push RIT
function.
Push
RIT
function.
Hold down
the Dial Lock function.
Operate something (push key, and so
blinks on) to reset the screen saver startup

Select the VFO mode.
Set different frequencies in scan
