To replace the component, reverse the removal procedure.

Removing and replacing the six-bay SFF rear drive cage backplane (SAS or SATA)

Before you perform this procedure, make sure that you have the components included with the hardware kit.
WARNING: To reduce the risk of personal injury from hot surfaces, allow the drives, power supplies, and internal
system components to cool before touching them.
CAUTION: To prevent damage to electrical components, take the appropriate anti-static precautions before
beginning any installation, removal, or replacement procedure. Improper grounding can cause electrostatic
discharge.
Procedure
1. Power down the system (Power down the system).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the system.
3. Remove the system from the rack (Remove the system from the rack).
4. Place the system on a flat, level surface.
5. Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel).
6. Disconnect all cables from the drive backplane.
7. Remove the rear drive cage:
a. To detach the rear drive cage from system board, loosen the captive screws.
b. To detach the drive cage from the rear panel, loosen the thumbscrew.
c. Grasp and lift the rear drive cage out of the chassis.
