IMPORTANT:
Hewlett Packard Enterprise does not support replacing a -002 or -003 system board with a -001 system board.
The -003 system board can be used to replace a -001 or -002 system board.
Procedure
1.
Power down the system (Power down the system).
2.
Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the system.
3.
Remove the system from the rack (Remove the system from the rack).
4.
Place the system on a flat, level surface.
5.
Remove the access panel (Remove the access panel).
6.
Remove the air baffle (Remove the air baffle).
7.
Pull down the front drive cage release latches and use them to completely extend the front drive cages from the
chassis (Extend the front drive cages out of the chassis).
8.
If installed, remove the rear drive cage (Remove a rear drive cage).
9.
If installed, remove the PCI riser cage (Remove the PCIe riser cage).
10. Remove all expansion boards or controllers from the onboard PCIe expansion slots.
11. Remove all DIMMs (Removing and replacing a DIMM).
Be sure to note the DIMM slot locations in which each DIMM is installed. These components must be installed in the
same locations on the new system board.
12. Remove the HPE Persistent Memory modules installed on the system board (Removing and replacing an HPE
Persistent Memory module).
Be sure to note the DIMM slot locations in which each HPE Persistent Memory module is installed. These
components must be installed in the same locations on the new system board.
13. Remove the heatsink (Removing and replacing a processor heatsink assembly).
14. Remove the system battery (Removing and replacing the system battery).
15. Remove the power pass-through board (Removing and replacing the power pass-through board).
16. Disconnect all cables connected to the system board.
17. Remove the cable management holder (Removing and replacing the cable management holder).
18. Loosen the thumbscrew in the center of the system board and remove the system board tray.
19. Remove the failed system board from the tray.
