Giving a Demand /Remote Bolus

If the PCA profile was programmed for demand
bolus doses, the patient may activate a demand bolus
dose by pressing the
connected, the button on the PCA cord.
Patient control over demand boluses is limited by one
of the following settings:
limits for the number of doses that may be
given in an hour, or
a required time interval between demand
bolus doses.
To give a demand bolus during the PCA infusion,
1.
press the PRIME/BOLUS key or the button on the
remote PCA cord. The pump beeps four times and
displays:
BOLUS DOSE
REQUESTED
2.
When the bolus dose is finished, the pump resumes
the current basal rate and displays the current screen.
The pump's data log shows the number of demand
bolus doses given as well as the number of doses
requested by the patient.
