ADVANCED OPERATIONS

Repeater operation

A repeater receives your transceiver's signals and
simultaneously retransmits them on a different
frequency to provide a greater communication range
When using a repeater, the transmit frequency shifts
from the receive frequency by an offset amount. You
can access a repeater using the split function
1 Select the VFO mode
2 Set the operating mode to "FM"
3 Set the receive frequency (Repeater output
frequency)
For only the USA version:
When the Auto Repeater function is turned ON, steps
4 and 5 are not necessary The Auto Repeater function
automatically sets the repeater settings (duplex ON/
OFF, duplex direction, tone encoder ON/OFF)
L You can turn OFF the function and manually set the
repeater settings
» SET > Function > Auto Repeater
4 Set the Duplex direction and frequency offset
• See page 1-20 for setting details
5 Turn ON the repeater tone, and set the repeater
tone frequency
• See page 1-19 for setting details
6 Communicate in a normal way
• Subaudible tones are superimposed on your transmit
signal
TIP: To access a repeater using the DR function, see
Section 10 for details

D Checking the repeater input signal

You can check whether or not you can directly receive
another station's transmit signal, by listening to the
repeater input frequency
L While listening, the RX indicator lights green, and then the
Noise Reduction and Notch Filter settings are canceled
While receiving, hold down
