5. 1 Safety instructions
WARNING: Before performing any cleaning or maintenance work on the central device and the

connected devices, disconnect these from the power supply line!
WARNING: All work may only be performed by qualified technicians trained in electrical or electronic
3
engineering, in compliance with the relevant occupational, safety and accident prevention regulations!
Prior to carrying out any work on the device, disconnect the device from the mains! A safety test
according to VDE 0751 and IEC 62353 must be carried out following service work.
WARNING: By making the enclosed technical information available, KARL STORZ does not authorize

any service or repair work by unauthorized service personnel. Any tampering with instruments or
devices or unauthorized servicing or repair work to the device will render the warranty void.

WARNING: When carrying out any work on contaminated medical devices, the guidelines of the

Employers' Liability Insurance Association and equivalent organizations striving to ensure personal
safety must be observed.
CAUTION: National laws and regulations must be observed.

WARNING: Risk of infection: Incorrectly reprocessed medical devices expose patients, users and
3
third parties to a risk of infection as well as the risk that the medical device may malfunction. Observe
the manual 'Cleaning, Disinfection, Care, and Sterilization of KARL STORZ Instruments' and the
accompanying documentation.
CAUTION: When preparing and using solutions, follow the chemical manufacturer's instructions,
2
paying close attention to proper concentration, exposure time and service life. Incorrect concentration
may result in damage. Bear in mind the microbiological range of action of the chemicals used.

5. 2. 3 Required reprocessing agents
• Disinfectants
NOTE: Due to their protein-fixating effect and possible material incompatibility, alcohol-based agents

must not be used.
The chemical manufacturer's specifications concerning material compatibility must be observed.
5. 2. 4 Required reprocessing materials
• Disposable cloth or ready-to-use disinfectant cloth
• Dry, low lint cloth
