Horizontal Steering
This setting allows the operator to steer the swath independently of the sonar head physical
angle. The extent of steering is determined by the angle selected. The limitation is that the outer
beam cannot be steered past 5° from the horizontal (see Figure 7). When the swath is steered
this way, the individual beam widths increase with the steering angle. A beam steered at 60° is
twice the width of a beam steered at 0°.
With a swath of 120° the maximum steering angle is ±25° ((85°-(swath/2)).
With a swath of 60° the maximum steering angle is ±55° (85°-(swath/2)).
