Operation
In the Event of Supply Failures
Fresh gas metering is still possible even in the event
of failure of one of the gases. For example, if the N
supply fails, AIR can be selected as the carrier gas.
Julian is equipped with two independent gas supply
failure alarm systems.
If the supply pressure of O
below 270 kPa (39 psi), the corresponding pressure
display on the front panel starts flashing. In the event
of an O2 supply failure, an uninterruptible continuous
audible alarm is generated.
If, in the event of inadequate gas supply (O
N
O, fresh gas flow control is not able to deliver the

set fresh gas mixture, a corresponding warning is
displayed in the alarm field on the screen accompa-
nied by a continuous audible alarm.
An O
failure alarm is always signalled with the maxi-

mum alarm volume.

In the Event of a Major Hardware Fault

In this case, the message SYSTEM FAULT will be
displayed and an audible alarm is generated.
In the event of a hardware fault including the screen, the
audible alarm is generated only.
In these cases, Julian automatically switches to
MAN/SPONT ventilation mode.

Ventilate patient manually.
To silence the audible alarm:
Press dial knob.
In the event of system failure which also does not allow
an automatic switch to safe state the user may turn off
the Julian and ventilate the patient manually.

(1-12 L/min).
2 Check Vapor setting.
Ventilate patient manually!
