Inspiratory flow in CMV mode ranges from
3 to 75 L/min. Limits for ventilation parameter settings
are dependent on this flow range.
For tidal volumes V
of less than 200 mL:

Use a pediatric patient circuit, see page 59
"Ventilating Children".
In CMV mode, Julian will automatically compensate
for the compliance of the breathing system and
hoses. This ensures that the delivered tidal volume
corresponds to the volume setting. In some cases,
the volume compressed in the breathing system may
not be fully compensated due to the ventilator's flow
limitation of 75 L/min.
In the CMV mode, the fresh-gas flow setting may be limi-
ted to a value corresponding to the actual inspiratory
pause time. During the inspiratory pause, fresh gas is not
delivered in order to obtain an increase of plateau pres-
sure.
If the CMV mode is activated and the fresh-gas flow set-
ting is 12 L/min, the flow will automatically be limited to
the maximum possible value corresponding to the inspira-
tory pause time. This limited value has to be confirmed
before starting CMV.
Starting CMV
1 Press »CMV« key
2 and confirm with dial knob.
Display (example):
The preset ventilation parameters are displayed on
screen.
The
symbol rotates in the menu key »L/min« to
indicate that fresh gas is flowing.
If a change in ventilation parameters is required:
Press corresponding menu key. Set and confirm
ventilation parameter with the dial knob.
