CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE

8.1

CLEANING

8.1.1 CLEANING STAFF

Cleaning work should be undertaken regularly and carefully by qualified and trained staff.
They should be informed of specific hazards during their training.
The following hazards may arise during cleaning work:
− Health hazard from inhaling solvent vapors
− Use of unsuitable cleaning tools and aids

8.1.2 SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

DANGER
Explosive powder/air mixes!
Danger to life and equipment damage.
Before starting cleaning, rinsing, or other manual work, the high voltage must be shut
down and locked to prevent it from being switched back on!
The spray gun must be separated from the high-voltage supply before any cleaning
work is started.
Only electrically conductive tanks may be used for cleaning and flushing agents.
Ground the tank.
Preference should be given to non-ignitable cleaning and flushing agents.
If ignitable solvents are used:
The cleaning and flushing agent's flash point must be at least 15 K above the ambient
temperature.
Ignitable solvents and solvent gases must be completely removed, before the
system can be recommissioned.
Ensure that no electric component is cleaned with or immersed into solvent.
NOTICE
Damage to electrical devices!
Never immerse the spray gun in cleaning agent.
