7 - Fault Finding

Hydraulic System, Z-version

FAULT
No boom movements when activated.
ParaLift lock does not lock.
Boom lift raises to max. position, when tractor
hydraulics are engaged.
Oil heats up in Closed Centre systems.
Individual hydraulic piston does not move.

ComfortTrack

FAULT
ComfortTrack steers slowly or erratically.
ComfortTrack has non-linear steering or is not
following the tractor's track.
The ComfortTrack cylinder does not fully steer out.

PROBABLE CAUSE
Insufficient hydraulic pressure.
Insufficient oil supply.
The operator has interrupted the boom folding by
releasing the folding button in the tractor for more
than 30 seconds. A built-in timer automatically
removes the oil pressure in the yaw dampers 30
seconds after activating a folding button.
Blown fuse(s).
Bad / corroded electrical connections.
Insufficient power supply.
Defective relay / diodes in PDU box.
Clogged restrictors.
Wrong polarity.
Back pressure in return line exceeds 15 bar.
Bypass valve does not close properly.
Internal leaks in flow regulator.
Clogged restrictor.
PROBABLE CAUSE
Air in system.
Front potentiometer bar/springs move erratically.
Front potentiometer springs are not parallel.
The end-stop is not correctly calibrated.
CONTROL/REMEDY
Check oil pressure.
Check tractor hydraulic oil level.
Oil flow must be 50 - 80 l/min (depending on the
equipment on the sprayer).
Check tractor hydraulic oil level.
Unfold the boom completely. Start folding again
without letting go of the activated folding buttons for
more than 30 seconds at a time, until the folding is
completed.
Check / replace fuse in PDU box.
Check / clean connections, multi plugs etc.
Voltage on activated solenoid valve must be more
than 8 volts.
Use wires of at least 4 mm for power supply.
Check relays, diodes and soldering at PCB in PDU box.
LED diodes indicate boom functions.
Remove and clean restrictors in bypass block (See
hydraulic diagram). Change hydraulic oil + filter.
Check polarity. Red positive (+), black negative (-).
Connect the return line with a free flow to hydraulic
oil reservoir.
Divide return line in two and lead return oil back to
reservoir via two spool valves.
Check / close (screw in) by-pass valve.
Replace flow regulator O-rings and backup rings.
Replace flow regulator.
Dismantle and clean restrictor.
CONTROL/REMEDY
Vent the ComfortTrack cylinders - see "Venting the
Steering Hydraulics"
Re-arrange the spring setup, so that the
potentiometer bar moves freely.
Refit springs to parallel position and check
potentiometer reading - see "ComfortTrack Front
Potentiometer Calibration".
Check/do the end-stop calibration. Refer to "Menu
3.6.7 End-stop calibration" in the SmartCom
controller.
