6 Work with files
• To view the differences between the fonts, use the "Preview" in "Data management" >
"Font files" or in "Startup" > "Preferences" > "Fonts for offline editing".
‒ Alphanumeric characters: Numbers, A to Z, and a to z are displayed.
‒ Japanese and Simplified Chinese: The first 100 characters of the font are displayed
• Refer to "Font Maker Operation Manual" for details about creating and editing font files
using the Font Maker software. You cannot create or modify Simplified Chinese fonts with
the Font Maker software.
• For details about the applicable characters, refer to "Character code table" in the "Serial
Communication Command Guide".

6.5.2 Add font files
You can add font files (.fon format) other than the preinstalled fonts to use them in your
marking images. An online connection between your PC and the laser marking system is
required.
To add a font file to a backup file, no online connection is required. Open the backup file and
add the font file in the "Data management" screen.
If you add a font, you created or edited using the Font Maker software, you must assign the
font to a suitable font number in the table. For example, do not assign a Simplified Chinese
font to the font numbers 01 to 50. Otherwise, some characters cannot be imported properly.
1. Establish an online connection between your PC and the laser marking system.
2. Go to the "Data management" screen and select "Font files".
3. Select an empty table row to add a font file.
A font must be assigned to a suitable font number in the table (J1, J2, GB1, GB2, etc.).
If necessary, you can also overwrite an existing font file.
Use only font files in the .fon format. Windows TrueType fonts cannot be saved as font
files in the laser marking system.
4. Select "Add" in the ribbon.
5. Select a font file from your local or network drive.
The font is added to the list. It is saved on the laser marking system.
