15.4.3 Micro QR Code versions and data capacity

Each Micro QR Code version can encode a maximum amount of data (numeric,
alphanumeric, byte, Kanji).
Micro QR Code has error correction capability to restore data if the code is dirty or damaged.
For versions M2 and M3, you can select the error correction level L (7%) or M (15%). For the
version M4, you can select L (7%), M (15%) and Q (25%).
The numbers in the table indicate the maximum number of characters that can be encoded.

15.4.4 Data Matrix symbol sizes and data capacity

Each Data Matrix symbol size can encode a maximum amount of data (numeric,
alphanumeric, Kanji).
The maximum data capacity varies with the type of characters used. The numeric capacity
(numbers 0–9 of the "Alphanumeric" character type) is larger than the alphanumeric capacity
(0–9, A–Z, a–z, symbols and control characters of the "Alphanumeric" character type), which
is in turn larger than the Japanese Kanji capacity.
The order and combination of different characters also affects the data capacity
requirements. If the code data consists of numbers (0–9) and capital letters (A–Z), the data
may require more capacity than the maximum allowed number of characters indicated in the
table. For combinations with lowercase letters, symbols or control characters, the data may
require less capacity than the maximum allowed number of characters indicated in the table.
The Data Matrix codes that are indicated with 299 characters in the following table, are
capable of storing more characters. However, 299 is the maximum number of characters that
can be entered with the laser marking system.
