STARTER MOTOR REMOVAL AND DISASSEMBLY

• Remove the generator. (!6-9)
• Disconnect the starter motor lead wire and remove the starter
motor by removing the mounting bolts.
• Disassemble the starter motor, as shown in the illustration.

STARTER MOTOR INSPECTION

CARBON BRUSHES
Inspect the carbon brushes for abnormal wear, cracks or smooth-
ness in the brush holder.
If either carbon brush is defective, replace the brush assembly.
