4. Inspect the packer hydraulic system, including hoses, pipes, connectors, and the telescopic
cylinder (see Figure 3-10).
There should neither be dirt or garbage on the cylinder rod ends nor scratches on the rod itself.
There should not be leaks on the hoses and pipes.

5. Inspect packer front scrapers
These scrapers are used to prevent refuse from getting behind the packer where they can damage
the cylinder and the limit switches.
The minimum gap between the front scrapers and the hopper should be 1/16". If gap is excessive
(over ¼"), the scrapers should be replaced. Scrapers that are too close to the floor is a sign that
lower wear pads are worn.
