Removing And Installing Brake Light Sensor - Audi A6 2005 Workshop Manual

– Guide switch through mounting hole, press against brake ped‐
al and secure by turning 45° clockwise.
– Plug in electrical connector.
– Install driver's storage compartment ⇒ Rep. gr. 68 .
After adjusting the brake light switch check whether the brake
pedal is on the end stop (rest position).
6.2 Removing and installing brake light sen‐
sor
The brake light sensor is an improved version of the brake light
switch.
Note
The brake light sensor can be re-used after it has been re‐

moved.
The brake light sensor is self-adapting. Calibration is not re‐
♦
quired after installing the sensor.
Removing
– Remove driver's storage compartment ⇒ Rep. gr. 68 .
– Unplug electrical connector on brake light sensor.
– Press plunger of brake light sensor -B- all the way in with one
finger.
– With plunger still pressed in, turn coloured catch on brake light
sensor fully anti-clockwise -arrow A- to release sensor.
Note
Keep the plunger pressed in while releasing the brake light sen‐
sor.
– Let go of plunger after releasing brake light sensor.
– Insert release tool - T40168- between brake pedal and plunger
of brake light sensor.
The tapered part of the tool must face towards the driver's seat.
The slot on the tool must correspond with the projection on the
brake light sensor.
– Press release tool - T40168- against brake light sensor. This
releases the three retaining tabs on the brake light sensor.
