Removing and installing vacuum pump
- RS 6
Removing
Engine/gearbox assembly removed ⇒ Rep. gr. 10 .
– Remove front exhaust pipe (right-side) with catalytic convert‐
ers ⇒ Rep. gr. 26 .
– Remove bolts -arrows- and detach heat shield -1-.
Note
Place a cloth beneath the union to catch escaping engine oil.
– Unscrew bolt -2- and banjo bolt -3-.
– Press oil supply pipe to side.
Note
Disregard item -1-.
– Detach vacuum hose -2-.
– Remove bolts -arrows- and detach vacuum pump -1-.
Installing
Tightening torque
⇒ page 177
Note
Renew seals and O-rings.
Secure all hose connections with the correct type of hose clips
(same as original equipment) ⇒ Electronic parts catalogue .
– Position vacuum pump -1- at camshaft.
The drive lugs on the camshaft must engage in the slots in the
vacuum pump -arrows-.
Remaining installation steps are carried out in reverse sequence;
note the following:
– Install front exhaust pipe (right-side) with catalytic converters
