The purpose of the following data is, to show which are the techniques and the
patterns that obtain the best result in as little time as possible.
All the data relates to a panel 55 em ( 21.65 ins.) wide and 65 em ( 25.6 ins.)
high, which corresponds to the panel needed for a medium sized ladies
sweater.
For the following data the panel was always knitted as far to the right side of the
needle bed as possible.
The yarn length in relation to its weight is indicated in Nm,) that means meters per
1 gr. )
The number after the slash indicates how many strands the yarn is made up of.
Example 1 3/2 means the yarn is made from two strands, of which each measures
1 3 m per gr.
The yarn as a whole therefore measures 6,5 meters per gramm or 650 m ( 7 1 0.85
yds. ) per 1 00 gr ( 3. 527 ozs ).
Take into consideration that the actual time your machine needs to knit such a
panel might be slightly different. Not only techniqe and pattern have an influence
on the time you need. Other factors that influence the knitting time are: stitch size
(which varies slightly from one machine to the other}, material used and even the
color of the material can have an influence as light shades are usually slightly
thinner than dark shades.
