Height of lift

The height of lift is the distance the stud is lifted from the workpiece during the welding
process. This distance is required for igniting the arc. Determination and adjustment of
the lift is the same for welding with both support tube and ceramic ferrules. The height
of lift always depends on the stud diameter.
.
2.4.1

Determining the height of lift

• Set function "lift test" at the stud welder
• Position welding gun on the workpiece
• Pay attention to the starting position of the protection tube (item 2)
• Press trigger switch. The entire welding process takes place without the welding
current flowing.
• Read the highest position of the protection tube (item 2) on the scale. The number of
graduation marks indicated corresponds to the height of lift.
