*STB?
Description
Query Response
Example
*TRG
Description
In this example, the command enables ESB (event sum-
mary) bit 5 in the status byte register to generate a ser-
vice request.
The *STB (status byte) query returns the current value
of the status byte of the instrument.
The master summary status (MSS) bit 6 indicates
whether or not the device has at least one reason for
requesting service. When you read the status byte reg-
ister, the value returned is the total of the bit weights of
all of the bits set to one at the time you read the byte.
The following table shows each bit in the status byte
register and its bit weight. The *STB? query does not
affect the contents of the status byte register.

The *TRG (trigger) command is identical to the group
execute trigger (GET) message or RUN command.
This command acquires data according to the current
settings. This command cannot be issued as a query. If a
measurement is already in progress, a trigger is ignored,
and an error is generated.
