16. OTP operation

This section describes the funstion and basic operationalblocks of TMP86PM29BUG. The TMP86PM29BUG has
PROM in place of the mask ROM which is included in the TMP86Cx20,CH21,Cx29B. The configuration and func-
tion are the same as the TMP86Cx20,CH21,Cx29B. In addition, TMP86PM29BUG operates as the single clock
mode when releasing reset. When using the dual clock mode, oscillate a low-frequency clock by [ SET. (SYSCR2).
XTEN ] command at the beginning of program.
For TMP86CH21, however, some functions have been partially changed or deleted. For the detail functions, see
the each technical data sheets of TMP86CH21 and TMP86Cx29

16.1 Operating mode

The TMP86PM29BUG has MCU mode and PROM mode.

16.1.1 MCU mode

The MCU mode is set by fixing the TEST/VPP pin to the low level. (TEST/VPP pin cannot be used open
because it has no built-in pull-down resistor).

16.1.1.1 Program Memory

The TMP86PM29BUG has 32K bytes built-in one-time-PROM (addresses 8000 to FFFFH in the MCU
mode, addresses 0000 to 7FFFH in the PROM mode).
When using TMP86PM29BUG for evaluation of mask ROM products, the program is written in the pro-
gram storing area shown in Figure 16-1.
Since the TMP86PM29BUG supports several mask ROM sizes, check the difference in memory size
and program storing area between the one-time PROM and the mask ROM to be used.
