Brake light Indicator lamp - Testing (A.40.A.14.84 - G.40.A.20)
Test Point
1 Place Ignition Switch in "ON" posi-
tion.
Depress brake pedal.
Measure for 12 volts at Brake Light
Relay (pin 5).
2 Depress brake pedal.
Measure for 12 volts at RH Brake/
Tail Lamp connector X300 (pin 1).
3 Disconnect the RH Brake/Tail Lamp.
Measure the resistance on circuit
635 (BK) between RH Brake/Tail
Lamp connector X300 (pin 2) and
ground.
DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS - LIGHTING SYSTEM
Expected Result
12 volts.
If good reading, go to next test point.
12 volts.
If good reading, go to next test point.
Less than 1 ohm.
If good reading, replace the brake
bulb of the RH Brake/Tail Lamp.

Other Result (Possible Cause)
Perform Brake Light Relay Test.
Open circuit 630 (PU) between
Brake Light Relay (pin 5) and RH
Brake/Tail Lamp connector X300
(pin 1).
Short to ground on circuit 630 (PU)
between Brake Light Relay (pin 5)
and RH Brake/Tail Lamp connector
X300 (pin 1). Any short to ground will
blow the fuse F-52.
Open circuit 635 (BK) between RH
Brake/Tail Lamp connector X300
(pin 2) and ground.
