1 Connect OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand–held tester, read the throttle valve
opening percentage.

2 Check voltage between terminal VC of throttle position sensor connector and
body ground.

DIAGNOSTICS – ENGINE (5S–FE)
PREPARATION:
(a) Connect the OBD II scan tool or TOYOTA hand–held tes-
ter to DLC3.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON and push the OBD II scan tool
or TOYOTA hand–held tester main switch ON.
CHECK:
Read the throttle valve opening percentage.
OK:
FI7052
Throttle valve
Fully open
Fully closed
OK Check for intermittent problems
(See page DI–3).
PREPARATION:
(a) Disconnect the throttle position sensor connector.
(b) Turn the ignition switch ON.
CHECK:
Measure voltage between terminal VC of the throttle position
connector and body ground.
OK:
Voltage: 4.5 ∼ 5.5 V
