5.5

Extension and conversion of the valve terminal

5.5.1 Expansion block

To facilitate mounting the expansion block, Festo recom-
mends that you dismantle the CDVI from the mounting sur-
face.
If the CDVI is easily accessible, the expansion block can also
be fitted without the need for you to dismantle the valve ter-
minal. Combinations of Bi- and Mo-expansion blocks are per-
missible. In the extension, at the most 8 solenoid coils can be
triggered.
You can extend the CDVI by maximum
4 valve positions (when using exclusively Bi-expan-
sion blocks) or by
8 valve positions (when using exclusively Mo-expan-
sion blocks).
When extending the CDVI, it is not possible to use
manifold blocks because screwing together multiple
manifold blocks has not been provided for in the design.
In order to extend the CDVI, please use the components
listed in the following table.
Note
With more than 2 pressure zones:
Ensure that there is a corresponding pneumatic supply
port for each pressure zone.
