Field Remedy
When the same symptom occurs, check to see if the 2 port PCB has poor contact; if so, re-fit it.

15.3.5.2 Setting/Registration Defect

15.3.5.2.1 FAX received image is divided into 2 pages when LGL-size image is sent to receiving machine that uses LTR-size paper

Description
When LGL-size image was sent to a FAX machine using LTR-size paper, the image was divided into 2 pages in the receiving side. To solve this, the INCH-
MM conversion switch was turned ON.
Cause
Since an image sent at the inch-system resolution (200dpi) from the FAX sending side was received at the FAX international standard resolution (i.e., 7.7pel
in the vertical direction), the FAX receiving machine falsely detected the length of the image as being longer than the actual, and thus could not fit it into
LTR-size paper no matter if it was reduced at the maximum reduction ratio (for FAX machines from Canon, the maximum preset auto reduction ratio is 75%),
and ultimately divided it into 2 LTR-size papers.
Field Remedy
To turn the INCH-MM conversion switch to ON, perform the following in the FAX sending side.
- In Service Mode > FAX > SSSW > SW05, change the value for bit1 from '0' to '1'.
- In Service Mode > FAX > SSSW > SW05, change the value for bit2 from '0' to '1'.
- In Service mode > FAX > SSSW > SW14, change the value for bit2 from '0' to '1'.
Note: Although the output quality may somewhat be degraded depending on transmitted images, change the above-mentioned modes in a positive manner
even when the symptom has not occurred in the FAX receiving side because it may occur depending on machines in FAX receiving side.

15.3.6 Jam (Main Unit)

15.3.6.1 Jam occurs in duplex printing: DC Driver PCB is faulty

[ Inspected by Canon Inc. ]
Description
Since a jam occurred in duplex printing, the DC Driver PCB was replaced with a new one for solution.
Cause
A fault in the DC Driver PCB causes the duplexing feed motor (M7) step out, consequently causing a jam in duplex printing.
Field Remedy
1. Refit all the connectors of the DC Driver PCB.
2. If Step 1 does not work on the symptom, replace the DC Driver PCB with a new one.

15.3.6.2 0207/0A07 Jam Code: Fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13) is faulty

[ Inspected by Canon Inc. ]
Description
Since the jam codes "0207" and "0A07" occurred, the fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13) was replaced with a new one for solution. In this
inspection case, 0207 jam code was displayed although a paper jam did not occur. Furthermore, the switch-off/on operation for solution of "0207" jam
triggered "0A07" jam code.
- 0207 Jam Code can be displayed when a stationary jam is detected at the fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13).
- 0A07 Jam Code can be displayed when a jam is detected at the fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13) at power-on or initial rotation.
Cause
Since the photointerrupter used as the fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13) was faulty, the presence of paper was falsely detected contrary
to the actual condition.
Field Remedy
When the symptom above occurred, perform the following procedure.
1. Re-fit J2006 connector of the DC controller PCB.
2. Re-fit the connector of the fixing pressure releasing home position sensor (PS13); if the symptom is not solved, replace the sensor with a new one.
