Setting Virtual Memory

To determine that the appropriate Windows 2000 Server operating
system, service pack, and hotfix versions are correctly installed on the
LANserver EX:
1. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, and select Properties.
The System Properties dialog box opens.
2. Click the General tab. The System section lists the version of the
operating system and the service pack that are installed on the LANserver
EX3
If your LANserver EX3 does not have the Windows 2000 Server operating
system, Service Pack 4, you should install the Windows 2000 Server operating
system, Service Pack 4.
If you reinstall the Windows 2000 operating system for any reason, make sure
you perform a default installation (accept all the standard installation
recommendations) of the Windows 2000 Server operating system. Follow the
Windows 2000 installation instructions that came with your LANserver EX3
You will also need to reinstall drivers for the Gigabit Ethernet adapter board,
the Fibre Channel adapter boards, or the 3ware
drivers are provided on the MediaNetwork CD-ROM in the Drivers_Firmware
folder. Each driver is in its own folder, labeled by its function.
Virtual memory extends the physical memory (RAM) in your LANserver EX3
using a portion of the hard drive as a location to move unused data from
physical memory. The Windows 2000 operating system uses a swap file
(pagefile.sys) to track the size and location of the virtual memory, and to move
data from the hard drive to RAM.
Avid ships each LANserver EX3 with virtual memory already configured. If
you are installing a new LANserver EX3, continue with

The LANserver EX3 requires you to allocate a minimum of 1536 MB of
virtual memory space on the C: partition of the internal (system) hard drive.
This provides adequate space for normal LANserver EX3 operation.
