Reinstalling the Windows 2000 Operating System

To reinstall the Windows 2000 operating system from the Avid Product
Recovery CD-ROM:
1. Make sure all clients unmount any workspaces they have mounted and
stop the Connection Manager.
2. Stop the File Manager using the Monitor Tool.
3. Locate the Avid LANserver EX3 Product Recovery CD-ROM.
4. Insert the Avid LANserver EX3 Product Recovery CD-ROM into the
LANserver EX3 CD-ROM drive.
5. Click the Start button, and select Shut Down. The Shut Down Windows
dialog box opens.
6. Select the Shut down option, and click OK. The Windows 2000 operating
system shuts down and turns off the LANserver EX3 system.
7. Disconnect all of the Ethernet network cables.
8. Press the Power button on the front of the LANserver EX3 system. The
system starts to boot normally and then presents the Avid LANserver EX3
Product Recovery CD-ROM screen. This takes approximately 2 minutes.
If the LANserver EX3 system does not boot from the CD-ROM, you need to
change the boot priority for the CD-ROM drive to place it before the hard
drive. Reboot the LANserver EX3 system and use Setup at the beginning of the
boot process (press the F2 key when prompted) to make the change, and then
repeat step 7.
9. Select one of the available options:
t
1. Perform a Windows 2000 installation to the 1st partition (C:).
t
2. Perform a Windows 2000 installation to the entire drive (C: and
D:).
t
3. Exit from the process without doing a recovery.
10. Type the number of the operation you want to perform at the prompt.

If you type 1 or 2, a warning screen appears informing you that you
are about to recover the Windows 2000 operating system. Continue
with step 11.

If you type 3, the recovery quits and displays the DOS prompt A:.
