9. Click Finish to complete installing the LANserver EX3 software, and
reboot the LANserver EX3
10. Log in to the LANserver EX3 as Administrator.
11. To verify that the LANshare LANserver EX3 software is correctly
installed:
a. Right-click the My Computer icon on the desktop, and select Manage.
The Computer Management window opens.
b. Expand Services and Applications.
c. Click Services. A list of services appears in the right section of the
window.
d. Locate the Avid Unity PortServer service. It should have a Status of
Started and a Startup Type of Automatic.
MediaNetwork supports the ability to supply other applications, such as
billing applications like ScheduALL
information about storage usage. The MediaNetwork billing software runs on
any Windows 2000 client and can be used with all MediaNetwork related
products; MediaNetwork workgroups and LANshare workgroups. See
Appendix E for information about installing and configuring the Avid billing
application.
You need to set the Virtual File Manager name to a name different from the
Computer Name you set earlier.
To set the Virtual File Manager name:
1. Click the Start Button, and select Programs > AvidUnity >
Setup Manager. The Setup Manager window opens.
2. Select File > File Manager Failover Configuration. The File Manager
Failover Configuration dialog box opens.
3. In the Virtual File Manager Name text box, type FC at the end of the
existing File Manager name.
