EVAPORATIVE EMISSION CONTROL SYSTEM
GV700GL (California only) is equipped with a
charcoal canister. It is connected to the fuel tank
and carburetors via hoses and pipes. This system
prevents HC vapors from the gasoline inside the
fuel tank from escaping into the open air. As
shown in the diagram, the separator allows only
(EC) vapors to pass through the hoses, HC vapors
are absorbed by the charcoal within the canister.
HC vapors are stored in the canister until engine
start-up. Upon engine start-up, engine vacuum
draws air through the canister, thereby purging the
HC vapors from the charcoal. The vapors are drawn
through the carburetors (purge port) and into the
cylinders for combustion.
This diagram is also located inside the left side
cover of the motorcycle.
