AXLE SHAFT
Using a dial gauge, check the axle shaft for runout
and replace it if the runout exceeds the limit.

Make sure that the wheel run out checked as shown,
does not exceed the service limit. An excessive
runout is usually due to worn or loose wheel
bearings and can be reduced by replacing the
bearings. If bearing replacement fails to reduce the
runout, adjust the tension of the spokes and, if
this proves to be of no effect, replace the wheel
rim.

Check to be sure that all nipples are tight, and re-
tighten them as necessary by using 6 mm open end
wrench.

For proper braking and riding stability, the tire
should have sufficient groove depth from the tread
surface. If the groove depth, measured as shown in
the figure, reaches the wear limit, replace the tire.
