For proper cooling, do not operate the server without the access panel, baffles, expansion slot covers,
or blanks installed. If the server supports hot-plug components, minimize the amount of time the access
panel is open.

Unpack the server shipping carton and locate the materials and documentation necessary for installing the
server. All the rack mounting hardware necessary for installing the server into the rack is included with the
rack or the server.

T-25 Torx screwdriver (to secure the chassis in the rack)

T-10/T-15 Torx screwdriver

Flathead screwdriver (to remove the knockout on the dedicated iLO connector opening)

Installation overview
Installation of a server requires the following steps:
1. Install the chassis into a rack.
2. Install any server options .
3. Install the server into the chassis.
4. Install an operating system.
5. Install system software.
6. Register the product.

To install the server into a rack, see the Setup and Installation Guide on the Hewlett Packard Enterprise

Installing hardware options
Before installing and initializing the server , install any hardware options. For options installation information,
see the documentation that ships with the option. For server -specific information, see "Hardware options

Installing the operating system
To operate properly, the server must have a supported operating system installed. For the latest information
