5. Installation/Commissioning Procedure

Quick Installation Guide

1. Physically mount the unit per Chapter 2. (Page 2–8)
2. Wire the unit per your engineering documents or typical schemes as shown in
Chapter 3.
3. Set hardware jumpers on I/O Module, Power Supply Module & Backplane.

4. Set up your laptop PC for communicating with the unit. (Page 5–10)
• Ethernet port requires setting static IP address (Direct or LAN connection).
• RS-232 port requires setting up a modem connection and static IP address.
5. Power up the unit.
(There is no power switch, simply plug Power Supply module in or out to turn
power on or off.)
6. Connect to the unit via one of these ports: (Page 5–10)
• Direct Ethernet (Front or Rear) or LAN Ethernet (Rear only)
• RS-232 (Front)
7. Log in first time as user = administrator, password = pulsar. Enter new user as
a "super user" with privileges of "admin" + "user". Log out & back in as the
new super user. (Page 5–11)
8. Make software settings in the unit via one of the following two methods & sub-
mit. (Page 5–14)
a. Upload previously made company standard XML software file, on
Load/Save Tab of Settings web page. Then modify as needed.
b. Use standard configurations on Load/Save Tab of Settings web page. Then
modify as needed.
9. Calibrate the unit for incoming RX level. TX level is already calibrated into a
50Ω load before shipping. (Page 5–31)
10.Document, by saving, the XML file and report file on Load/Save Tab of
Settings web page. (Page 5–14)
11.Verify correct operation by looking at the TX/RX levels, RX Margin, TX
reflected power on the front display or Home web page. Check LEDs on front
door are correctly illuminated. (Pages 5–35, 5–36)
