short for BOOLEAN as defined by IEC 61850.
Downloading, modifying, and uploading the
api_uplc.cid data file
(It is assumed that you are familiar with the UPLC-
II™ web page interface. If not, please refer to the
UPLC-II™ installation manual for details.)
The UPLC-II™, when enabled for IEC 61850 pro-
tocol, has the ability to generate an api_uplc.cid file
on the tab located under Admin->Protocol>IEC
61850 (See Figure 7–6).
The settings on this page (Fig. 7–8) allow you to
change the parameters of the UPLC-II™ 61850
operation regarding the GOOSE messages pro-
duced by the UPLC-II™. To obtain a copy of the
UPLC-II™ api_uplc.cid file, click the button
"Download UPLC .CID file". The browser inter-

face will prompt you to save the api_uplc.cid file to
your local hard drive.
You then may edit the api_uplc.cid file to construct
a GOOSE Subscription.
The default api_uplc.cid file contains a sample
GOOSE Subscription block that may be edited. Be
sure to use a non-formatting text editor such as
Windows
Notepad, or a programming editor.

Figure 8–8 shows the api_uplc.cid file with the yel-
low line indicating the start of the GOOSE
Subscription block. Due to rapid development, the
actual api_uplc.cid file may be slightly different
than shown. Also note that in this editor lines do not
wrap, so the attributes of the GOOSE subscription
are not all shown.
You can now make changes to the GOOSE sub-
scription data.
