Care should be used to make sure the jumper is always connected to the
correct 4 pins.
An explanation of jumper positions, on different boards within the UPLC-II™, is provided here. However,
for more detailed information such as jumper location on particular boards, please refer to chapter 2.

5.3.1 Backplane (Rear Panel)

JMP 1/4 – 50 or 75Ω: Selects transmitter output impedance
JMP 3/5 – 2 or 4 wire: Sets RF coax connection
If set to 2-wire, then the transmitter and receiver are on a common coax on the rear (J1), as in most
ON/OFF applications. If set to 4-wire, then the transmitter outputs on coax connector J1 and the
receiver input is on coax connector J2, as in all FSK applications and a few ON/OFF applications
(e.g. when using an external amplifier).
JMP 2/6/7: 1 or 2 Power Amplifiers. Set according to the number of power amplifiers present.

5.3.2 I/O Module

INPUT 1
15V, 48V, 125V or 250V: Inputs are set according to keying voltage for the given input.
This jumper establishes the minimum keying threshold voltage which is greater than

half station battery voltage to prevent accidental keying.

1.0A/0.1A: Low level solid state outputs are set according to load level. This jumper sets the

solid state output current capability. Microprocessor relay inputs should be set for 0.1A.

Greater loads should use the 1.0A setting such as modern lockout relays. As the heavy

duty transistors in the soid state outputs leak very small currents, the 0.1A setting totally

prevents this phenomenon from accidentally turning on the low current inputs of a micro-

processor relay or other low current device.

NO/NC: Low Level contact outputs are set according to desired position when a relay coil is

de-energized. When not energized, the contact will be NO (Normally Open) or NC
(Normally Closed).
