Connecting to the UPLC-II with this Serial
Port
1. Connect your serial cable to the serial port
selected as COMX or if using a USB to seri-
al converter connect the USB end to a USB
port on your computer.
2. Then connect the other end of the cable to the
UPLC-II™.
3. Either select the connections icon on the sys-
tem tray if you have one, or open the
Network and Sharing Center.
4. If you selected the network connections icon
from the system tray, the "Connections are
available" dialog box will appear. Skip to
step 6.
5. If you opened the Network and Sharing
Center, click on "Connect to a network"
under the Change your networking settings.
This will pop up the same "Connections are
available" dialog box as in step 4.
6. Click on the connection that has the name
you used for the UPLC-II™. Then click on
the "Connect" button.
7. Several Dialog boxes will pop up and disap-
pear. Some will be slow and some will be
very
fast.

"Connected."
8. If you want, you may select the network con-
nection icon in the system tray and under
the UPLC connection, the word connected
will appear.
9. Now open internet explorer and in the URL
box, type "http://100.100.100.100/" and
press return. At this point, the UPLC II™
password box will pop up. Type in the
UPLC II™ username and password that has
been setup for your use.

This completes your connection session with the
UPLC-II™.
Warning: If you do not perform steps 12, 13 and 14
before disconnecting your computer, on UPLC II™
versions 2.05 and less, you will have to reboot the
UPLC-II™ before you will be able to connect
last

again. On versions greater than 2.05, you will not
have to reboot but you will have to wait before you
can reconnect again by the amount set in the time-
out setting on the administration page (30 minutes
by default).
10. The home screen for the UPLC II™ should
now appear after a short delay.
11. Do the work you need to do.
12. When you have completed your work, do
not disconnect the serial cable from your
computer. At this point, instead, click on the
Log out in the upper left hand corner of the
home screen.
13. Click "OK" to the dialog box that appears.
Then click "yes" to the Question, "Do you
want to close internet explorer." Do not
unplug the serial cable from your computer
or the UPLC-II™ until you complete step
14.
14. Next, click the network icon in the system
tray and click on the UPLC II™ connection,
then click on the Disconnect box.
