5.7.4 Checkback (ON/OFF Mode) or
Trip Test (FSK Mode) Tab
This is the testing facilities tab that only shows up
if you have a UPLC-II™ catalog # ending in
"AFSX", where the "A" enables testing. The details
for this optional settings tab are shown in Chapter 6.

5.7.5 RF Configuration Tab

This is just a graphical representation of how the
TX and RX are connected together based on the
backplane 2W/4W jumper setting. It also shows
current jumper settings of the 3 backplane jumpers.
There are no settings to make on this tab.

5.7.6 Submit Tab

On the Submit Tab (Fig. 5–13), you can either
choose to submit the settings to the UPLC-II™ or
you can discard the settings. Select the "Submit
Changes" button to send the new settings to the
UPLC-II™.
The Submit Tab is also where you can set the sys-
tem time and date. This will be the time used to time
tag the Sequence of Events. Therefore, use the time
that is common practice in your company for time
tagging events, such as standard local time or GMT.
If IRIG-B is connected to the unit the month, day,
hour, minute and second will be set to GMT by the
IRIG-B signal. The user must set the year, even
with IRIG-B connected. The time and date are sub-
mitted separately from all the other settings.

At this point you have completed the settings on the
UPLC-II™. As described here we progressed
through the settings from beginning to end as if we
were dealing with a new installation. However, you
may go into the settings and map another input or
output or change an existing one without going
through the whole procedure. All you do is make
the settings change you want then click on the
Submit Tab and then click the "Submit Changes"
button. Thus after a UPLC-II™ is configured, it is
easy to make a couple of needed changes.
The only time your settings will be cleared and you
will have to go through all the settings tabs, is when
you change the channel type or the function.
We have covered the entire setup of the UPLC-II™
Power-Line Carrier set. By using the web pages in
a standard browser and providing a controlled
workflow, the set up of the unit has been greatly
simplified. That is, by only presenting the user with
the menu selections needed based on previous
menu selections, this eliminates confusion and
lessens the chance for an error in setup. Since many
protection-system security and dependability prob-
lems relate to system setup issues, we feel this con-
trolled workflow process will have the overall
affect of improving the protection-system reliability
where UPLC-II™ is applied.
