Säurestand prüfen
Schrauben Sie alle Verschlußstopfen heraus.
Bei waagerecht stehendem Fahrzeug muß die
Batteriesäure jede Zelle bis zur Füllmarke rei-
chen. Wenn es erforderlich ist, den Säure-
stand zu korrigieren, darf nur destilliertes
Wasser (keine Säure) verwendet werden. Fül-
len Sie aber nie mehr als erforderlich ein. In
den Sommermonaten und in vorwiegend war-
men Ländern sollte der Säurestand häufiger
kontrolliert werden.
Säuredichte prüfen
Bei einer gut gepflegten Batterie kann aus der
Säuredichte auf den Ladezustand der Batterie
geschlossen werden. Die Dichte wird in

kg/dm angegeben und mit einem Dichtemes-
ser (Aräometer) gemessen.
Batteriespannung prüfen
Die Spannung der Batterie kann nur mit spe-
ziellen Meßgeräten geprüft werden; wenden
Sie sich deshalb bitte an eine autorisierte
Werkstatt.
Batteriepflege
Die Batteriepole dürfen nicht verschmutzt
sein. Schützen Sie sie mit einem säurebin-
denden Spezialfett und achten Sie auf guten
Sitz der beiden Polklemmen.

Checking the acid level
With the vehicle standing level, remove all the
battery plugs, and check that the acid level in
every cell reaches the full mark. If the battery
has to be topped up, use only distilled water,
not acid. During the summer months, and in
warmer climates, the battery level should be
checked more often.
Checking the specific gravity of the acid
In a battery in good condition, the state of
charge of the battery can be determined by
the specific gravity of the acid, which is
measured in kg/dm3, determined with the use
of a hydrometer.
Checking the voltage of the battery
The voltage of a battery can only be
measured with a special instrument, and
should therefore be left
PORSCHE Centre.
Care of the battery
The battery terminals must be kept clean.
They should be smeared with a suitable
grease, and check that the terminal clamps
are properly fitted.

die Entlüftungsöffnungen dürfen nicht durch
Staub und Schmutz zugesetzt sein.
Lassen Sie keine Säure an Kleidung oder
Fahrzeugteile kommen. Eventuelle Säuresprit-
zer müssen sofort mit einer Sodalösung neu-
tralisiert werden.
Wegen der Explosionsgefahr darf in der Nähe
der Batterie nicht mit offenem Feuer oder
Licht gearbeitet werden.
Auch wenn Sie Ihren Porsche außer Betrieb
setzen, entlädt sich die Batterie. Um die
Funktionsfähigkeit zu erhalten, muß die Batte-
rie etwa alle 6 Wochen aufgeladen werden,
da eine entladene Batterie sehr leicht bleiben-
de Schäden davonträgt. Bei der Kontrolle soll-
te auch der Stand der Batteriesäure überprüft
und notfalls ergänzt werden.
Check that the battery plugs are seated cor-
rectly, and that the vent holes in them are not
blocked.
Never let any acid come into contact with
clothing, or any parts of the vehicle. Should
battery acid be splashed or spilled, it should
be immediately neutralized with a soda solu-
tion.
Due to the explosive gases given off by a bat-
tery, never go near it with a naked flame or
fire.
A battery loses its charge when not being
used, so if the vehicle is laid up for any peri-
od, the battery should be charged approx.
every 6 weeks to keep it in good condition. A
battery left discharged for a length of time will
be ruined. Check and if necessary top up the
acid level every time the battery is charged.
