Das Abgasreinigungssystem
Der geregelte Dreiweg-Katalysator stellt in
Verbindung mit der Lamdasonde und dem
elektronischen Steuergerät das wirkungsvoll-
ste Abgasreinigungssystem dar.
Um die Funktionsfähigkeit des Abgasreini-
gungssystems zu gewährleisten, müssen die
Wartungsintervalle eingehalten werden.
Die Anlage besteht aus mehreren Bauteilen:
• dem Katalysator
• der Lambdasonde
• dem elektronischen Steuergerät
• dem Tankentlüftungssystem
Um die Funktion von Katalysator und
Lambdasonde nicht nachhaltig zu beein-
trächtigen, muß ausschließlich unverblei-
ter Kraftstoff getankt werden.
Durch das Tankentlüftungssystem wird ver-
hindert, daß Kraftstoffdämpfe aus dem Tank
in die Umgebung gelangen.
The Emission Control System
In conjunction with the lambda sensor and the
electronic control unit, the closed-loop three-
way catalytic converter represents the most
effective emission control system.
To assure the efficiency of the emission con-
trol system, always have your car serviced at
the specified intervals.
The system consists of several components:
• the catalytic converter
• the lambda sensor
• the electronic control unit
• the tank ventilation system.
To avoid permanent damage to the func-
tionality of catalytic converter and lambda
sensor, use only unleaded fuel.
The tank ventilation system prevents fuel
vapours escaping from the tank into the at-
mosphere.
Fahrhinweise
Sollten während der Fahrt Fehlzündungen
auftreten (erkennbar an schlechtem Motor-
rundlauf oder Leistungsabfall), sind Fahrge-
schwindigkeit und Motorbelastung zu verrin-
gern.
Um eine Überhitzung des Katalysators zu ver-
meiden, sollte die Störung umgehend beim
nächsten PORSCHE-Vertragshändler
hoben werden.
Aus diesem Grund darf der Kraftstofftank nie-
mals leergefahren werden.
Unterbodenschutz
Keinen Unterbodenschutz auf oder in die Nä-
he von Auspuffkrümmer, Auspuffrohren, Kata-
lysator oder Hitzeschilden auftragen. Das
Schutzmaterial kann während der Fahrt zu
heiß werden und sich entzünden.
Parken
Sie sollten Ihr Fahrzeug nicht an Stellen
parken oder betreiben, an denen brennba-
re Stoffe, wie trockenes Gras oder Laub,
mit dem heißen Auspuffsystem in Berüh-
rung kommen können.
Tips on Driving
If backfiring occurs while driving (identifiable
by rough running of the engine or loss of
power), reduce speed and engine load.
To prevent overheating of the catalytic con-
verter the malfunction should be corrected im-
mediately at the nearest Official PORSCHE
Centre.
It is for this reason that you should never
drive until the fuel tank is completely empty.
Underseal
Do not apply underseal on or near the ex-
haust manifold, exhaust pipes, catalytic con-
verter or heat shields. With the engine run-
ning, the protective material may overheat
and ignite.
Parking
Never park your car or run the engine
where there is a danger of flammable ma-
terial such as dry grass or leaves coming
into contact with the hot exhaust system.
Anschleppen
Fahrzeuge mit Katalysator dürfen nur bei kal-
tem Motor angeschleppt oder angeschoben
werden.

Tow-starting
Cars with a catalytic converter should only be
tow-started or bump-started if the engine is
cold.
