Codec Assignment
Program
Number
84-12-28
Audio Capability Priority
This program assigns the Codec that is used
when calling across the SL Net network.
Refer to the above bandwidth chart when making
the Codec selection.
84-12-31
DTMF Relay Mode
This program assigns the way the system handles
DTMF across the SL Net network.
When G.729 or G.723 is selected in PRG 84-12-
28, NEC recommends changing this PRG to RFC
2833.
84-12-32
Fax Relay Mode
This program enables or disables the fax relay.
When set to disabled, FAX relay is disabled and
will not be activated.
When set to Enabled, all ports are allowed to use
the Fax Relay.
When set to Each Port Mode, only special SLT
(PRG 15-03-03 = 1), trunks, and networking ports
can use the Fax Relay.
84-12-01
G.711 Audio Frame Size
Assign the G.711 Audio Frame Size.
The smaller the packet sizes the more bandwidth
that is consumed. However when a smaller
packet is lost in a network a smaller amount of the
voice is lost with it.
84-12-02
G.711 Voice Activity Detection
This program is used to enable or disable the
G.711 Codec to use silence detection. When
silence detection is enabled the SL1100 can
detect the absence of audio and conserve
bandwidth by preventing the transmission of
"silent packets" over the network.
When this program is enabled, it can save on
bandwidth. However, it can also affect the quality
of the call. VAD may have trouble detecting the
start and end of silence and therefore may cut off
the beginning and/or the end of a word.
