Enclosure Monitoring
Another feature of the NexStor 4900F Series RAID Storage System is the ability to
monitor itself. The user can interact with the system through a VT-100 terminal
interface. The firmware based monitoring program allows users to view component
status and firmware specific information. You may access this program by
connecting a VT-100 terminal to the SES Controller card RS-232 Service port.
To access the monitoring program:
1
Connect one end of the null-modem serial cable to the RS-232 Service port
located on the SES Controller card.

NOTE:
The cable is a female-to-female DB-9 null-modem serial cable and is
included with the storage system. Refer to "Null-Modem Cable
Specifications" on page 159 for cable specifications.
2
Connect the other end of the cable to either a host system's RS-232 serial
communication port or a VT-100 type terminal.
3
Power on the storage system.
4
On a host system run a terminal emulation program, or start the terminal.
