Chapter 4
Managing and Monitoring
In this chapter you will find information about using the enclosure's onboard
monitoring systems. You will also find the procedures to update the enclosure's
SES Controller card firmware and RAID Controller firmware programs.
The interface to the enclosure's monitoring system and firmware programs is
provided through a VT-100 terminal (or emulation) connected to the Service port
on the SES Controller card and RAID Controller.
You should monitor your storage system regularly to ensure that the disk drives,
RAID controllers, disk arrays, and enclosure components are working properly.
The front bezel LEDs also provide monitoring status information for the enclosure
components such as: cooling fans, disk drives, and power supplies.
Enclosure Component Monitoring
This section provides an explanation of the notifications provided by the front
bezel LEDs and an explanation of the One-Touch Annunciation configuration
display system.
As part of the monitoring system, an audible alarm works in conjunction with the
front bezel LEDs. The alarm will sound for any fault that occurs with an enclosure
component. To silence the alarm, simply press the Alarm Reset button.
Status Indicator LEDs
The Status Indicator LEDs located above the Alarm Reset button, comprise the
Power-On LED, Channel Status LED, Power Supply Status LED, and Fan Status
LED. The following are descriptions of each of the LEDs.
