This section provides information for removing and replacing components in the server.

Removing and replacing Tier 1 CRUs

Replacement of Tier 1 CRUs is your responsibility. If Lenovo installs a Tier 1 CRU at your request, you will
be charged for the installation.
The illustrations in this document might differ slightly from your hardware.
Removing a hot-swap hard disk drive
Use this information to remove a hot-swap hard disk drive.
Attention:
• To avoid damage to the drive connectors, make sure that the server cover is in place and fully closed
whenever you install or remove a drive.
• To make sure that there is adequate system cooling, do not operate the server for more than 2 minutes
without either a drive or a filler panel installed in each bay.
To remove a hot-swap hard disk drive, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins in "Safety" on page v, "Handling static-sensitive devices"
on page 38 and "Installation guidelines" on page 36.
Step 2.
Press the release latch on the side of the drive front.
