Removing the simple-swap hard disk drive backplate
Use this information to remove the simple-swap hard disk drive backplate.
To remove the simple-swap hard disk drive backplate, complete the following steps:
Step 1.
Read the safety information that begins in "Safety" on page v and "Installation guidelines" on
page 36.
Step 2.
Turn off the server (see "Turning off the server" on page 26) and all attached peripheral devices.
Disconnect all power cords; then, disconnect all external cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3.
Remove the server top cover (see "Removing the server top cover" on page 320).
Step 4.
Pull the drive and filler panels out of the server slightly to disengage them from the backplate
assembly.
Step 5.
Disconnect the cables. Make note of which cable is connected to which connector.
1. Disconnect the signal cable from the connector on the system board or ServeRAID adapter.
2. Disconnect the power cable from the power supply paddle card.
Note: You can refer to the internal cable routing section "Internal cable routing" on page
173 for further details.
Step 6.
Press the release latches and rotate out the top of the backplate; then, lift the backplate out of
the server by pulling outwards and lifting it up.
Note: Based on the server configuration, the simple-swap hard disk drive backplate may appear
as either of the following.
For eight 3.5-inch simple-swap drive backplate:
For four 3.5-inch simple-swap drive backplate:
