• Refit the lower blade guard and blade clamping bolt cover.
• Retighten the cruciform screw to secure the blade clamping bolt cover. Tighten the screw securely. See Figure 10.
WARNING: To prevent damage to the arbor lock, always allow the motor to stop completely before engaging
the arbor lock. Make sure you release the arbor lock button before reconnecting your saw to the power socket.
Your mitre saw has been factory adjusted for making very accurate cuts. However, some of the components may have
become misaligned during transport. It may also be necessary to readjust the settings when the saw has been used
for some time due to wear. After unpacking your saw, check the adjustments below before you use the saw. Make any
readjustments required and check the angles regularly to ensure that your saw is cutting accurately.
WARNING: Always unplug your saw before fitting parts, making adjustments, attaching or removing a blade,
cleaning or when you are not using your saw.
Unplugging the saw will prevent it from starting accidentally and causing serious personal injury.
Note: Many of the drawings in this manual are cut-away drawings to show clearly particular parts of the saw.
This is intentional so that we can clearly show the parts in question. Never use your saw without the guards being properly
fitted and operating properly.

CUTTING A SLOT IN THE ZERO CLEARANCE THROAT PLATE

Before you can start using your mitre saw, you need to cut a slot through the zero clearance throat plate to allow for blade
clearance. To cut the slot, set the mitre angle at 0°, switch on the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed. Then carefully
make a straight cut as far as it will go through the throat plate.
Turn your saw off and allow the blade to come to a complete stop before raising the saw arm.
Next, set the bevel angle to 45°, switch on the saw and allow the blade to reach full speed. Then carefully make another
cut through the zero clearance throat plate. The throat plate will then allow the blade to pass through it at any angle
from 0° to 45°.
9.5 SQUARING THE MITRE TABLE AND FENCE
See Figures 12 to 15.
• Unplug your saw.
WARNING: Failure to unplug your saw could result in the saw starting accidentally and cause serious personal injury.
• To release the saw arm, push down on it and pull out the locking pin.
• Raise the saw arm until it is fully up.
• Loosen the mitre lock handle approximately one-half turn.
• Depress the mitre lock plate and rotate the mitre table until the pointer on the control arm is positioned at 0°.
• Release the mitre lock plate and securely tighten the mitre lock handle.
• Put a set square flat down on the mitre table. Place one side of the set square against the fence. Place the other side
of the square along the throat plate. The edge of the set square and the throat plate should be parallel as shown
in Figure 12.
• If the edge of the set square and the throat plate are not parallel as shown in Figures 13 and 14, adjustments
are required.
• Using a 6 mm hex key, loosen the cap head screws securing the fence. See Figure 15. Move the fence to the left
or right until the edge of the set square and the throat plate are parallel.
• Retighten the screws securely and check the angle between the fence and the table once more.
