SAFETY DEVICES (LOCKING SYSTEMS)
• SAW ARM LOCK
See Figure 5.a.
The saw arm lock is used to secure the saw arm in the lower position to make it easier to carry the saw.
• RETRACTABLE LOWER BLADE GUARD
See Figure 5.b.
The retractable blade guard protects against unintentional contact with the saw blade and from chips flying about.
The retractable blade guard must always close automatically: when the saw arm is fully raised, the teeth of the saw blade
must be fully covered.

ARBOR LOCK BUTTON
See Figure 5.
An arbor lock button has been provided for locking the arbor to stop the blade from rotating. Press and hold the arbor lock
button only when fitting, changing or removing the blade.

POSITIVE STOPS ON THE MITRE TABLE
Positive stops have been provided at 0°, 22.5°, 30° and 45°. The 22.5°, 30° and 45° positive stops have been provided
on both the left and right side of the mitre table.
8.11
BEVEL LOCK KNOB
The bevel lock knob securely locks the mitre saw at the required bevel angle. Positive stop adjustment screws have been
provided on each side of the saw arm. These adjustment screws enable you to set the bevel angle at 0° and 45°.
See Figures 23 and 24.
8.12
FENCE
When making any type of cut, the workpiece should be pressed firmly against the fence.
8.13
SELF-RETRACTING LOWER BLADE GUARD
The lower blade guard is made of shock-resistant, transparent plastic that covers both sides of the blade. It retracts over
the upper blade guard as the saw is lowered into the workpiece.

MOUNTING HOLES
See Figure 6.
Your mitre saw should be permanently mounted on a firm surface such as a workbench. Four 11 mm bolt holes have been
provided in the saw base for mounting it. The saw should be bolted through all four mounting holes using 11 mm bolts, locking
washers and hex nuts (not included). The bolts should be sufficiently long to go through the base of the saw, the workbench
and the locking washers.
Tighten all four bolts properly.
The position of the holes for a 457 mm x 610 mm workbench is shown in Figure 6. Carefully check the workbench after
mounting to make sure that it cannot move during use. If the workbench is unstable, slides or moves, secure it to the floor
before using the saw.
WARNING: Before using your saw, always ensure that it is securely mounted on a workbench or suitable stand.
Failure to do so could result in serious personal injury.
Next to the bolt holes, four nail holes have been provided in the saw base for temporarily mounting your compound mitre
saw. Use 4 nails about 60 mm (2-1/2") long to secure your saw temporarily.
Note: Make sure the surface on which you are mounting your saw is thick enough to accommodate the nails being used.
WARNING: The operation of a saw can result in foreign objects being projected into your eyes, resulting in severe
eye injury. Before using your saw, put on safety goggles or safety glasses with side shields and wear a dust mask,
if appropriate. Eyeglass wearers should wear a visor or standard safety glasses with side shields over them.
WARNING: Do not attempt to modify this tool or use accessories that are not recommended for use with this tool. Any
such alteration or modification is considered to be misuse and may be dangerous and lead to serious personal injury.
